Ancient Rome meets Salish artistry in the Roma Shorts, an Indigenous take on the gladiator short.
The inspiration for these shorts came from attending a concert at Estadio Olímpico (Olympic Stadium) in Rome in summer 2025 and ruminating on the art of Guud San Glans, or David Robertson – a Northwest Coast native of Haida and Tlingit descent whose use of black and red in his paintings are timeless and iconic.
The Roma Shortsare panelled shorts that are held together with gold metal buttons. The gold metal buttons allow for some skin to show through the stitching and give more movement than a regular straight legged short would — perfect for performing in coliseums everywhere or dancing with friends.
